    Organs, kidnappings, and sex slaves?

    Well,
I want to start doing a lot more traveling for surfing. That includes out of the United States.. but my parents, and even some other people are really hooked on the fact that there are all these black markets for peoples organs and sex slaves and that a lot of places kidnap tourists. I looked online and saw that Egypt looks pretty bad.. but no where like Fiji or anything like that. I mean of course what it comes down to is to travel with a buddy, but still!

Whats the deal? Is **** really that bad, or are they just paranoid/trying to protect their son?

Don't let that scare you! There is always going to be danger anywhere you go. Take a trip to CA and end up in the wrong section of SD or LA or Oakland and you could be in just as much trouble as a anywhere in the world. It is just important to read up on the places you are visiting, travel with someone else, stay alert, and trust your instincts...don't be wandering around unfamiliar places at night etc. Don't get overly drunk. If things seem to good to be true then they probably are.

People get way hyped up over crazy headlines in the news and then miss out on visiting some awesome places. Just go for it.

ive driven 6 hours overnight from Acapulco to puerto if that makes you feel better, then slept in a tent for 2 weeks. blew threw a road block in nicaragua. almost drove off a cliff on our way to puerto viejo. its really not as bad as the news says. just dont wear an expensive watch and a camera around your neck! the way i look at it, i rather die being mutilated in a 3rd world country than get smashed by an 18-wheeler on my way to dunkin donuts! but go with your instincts and start small

    edit*
and idk why you'd go to egypt on a surf trip! and fiji? that'd be sick, but i dont have 2,000 to blow on a plane ticket. start off in PR

Just ask your parent's how many of their friend's children have come back organless sacks or used up sex slaves? My Kid couch surfed Europe; yeah, scared me, made me nervous, but he survived it and met some very cool people.

Saty out of the countries on the state departments hit list, be alert and don't disrespect and you should be fine in most localities. I wouldn't walk around most neighborhoods of Camden NJ or Newark NJ.

I have had way more problems surfing in the US than any where else in the world. Foreign locals are almost always pretty cool as long as your not a f#####g A$$. East coast locals are the biggest Di##s and I am one of them. Travel is pretty smooth in country taking pix with lei wearing Mexican or Nicaraguan military at check points but upon arrival being damn near cavity searched at a F******g check point in CA (on the 4th of July) and being told that we had drugs when we absolutly did not.(still pissed) Its always worse coming back to good o'l Glory than it is leaving her. Get out there and live and learn!

Keep to the coast and you'll be fine. Stay away from East County...
