Skil 100 planers?

I got most of my skil's on craigslist and ebay. I went through a phase where I had about 13 planers. Nowadays I mostly use my clark's because of the weight and shapers barrell. I use my rockwell 653 for plowing huge blanks down or for wood boards. I use the skil to fine tune wood boards before final sanding. Sometimes you can find Powrkraft planers on ebay for cheap and they have strong motors and are similar to a skil. I started shaping with a $60 black and decker planer and it lasted almost 200 longboards before she blew up. I wouldn't drop a ton of money into a planer until you become very serious about shaping.

I'm partial to the Skil 100. Also use the accurate JN2. I use a modified Skil 100 7.5 type-4 Heavy Duty with the Cassica front shoe and the Accurate JN-2 for most short boards, and a Skil 100 Super Duty Type-5 with the Cassica Shoe and uncut base for longer shapes. The Accurate is a screaming beast that I tame down the RPM with a Auto Variable Transformer. I usually run it at about 70% And the Skill's at around 85 to 90% Click on the thumbnails to enlarge.

I bought a skill100 from Wavecraft and it is a wonderful machine... He knows how to set them up right ...I have seen some other skil 100's and can only imagine what it would take to get them going well. Money well spent and it will always be worth something and most likely never loose much value. Now where can i get one of those fancy blower shrouds in the first pic

sold my perfect condition Skil 100 back in '08 without checking ebay, etc. for going rates..doh! That kid back in the states got a DEAL..$160.
I paid $100 for it, way back...still, left some $$$ on the table.

Skil 100 Supercharger dust chute

Steve Boehne of Infinity Surfboards is the inventor and original manufacturer of the Skil Supercharger dust chute. I spoke to him thru email recently and he told me he was thinking of having some more made. I told him to let me know when he had them done. You might drop him an email voicing your interest to coax him in to action. steve@infinitysurf.com In the mean time keep your eye on eBay, they come up now and then. A guy on sways told me he'd sell one he had for 150 I to no thanks and that was some good stuff he must have been smoking. Good luck
