Looking for Surfboard Rental and a Good Spot nearby...

So i'm heading to SoCal, not for a surf trip but for another agenda, however i will have half a day to SURF?

Any ideas on where to rent a board and surf nearby? I'm considering South LA county and Orange County. I know about Jacks.

I'll be with the wife, (she's not surfing). I'm considering Salt Creek (cuz my dad loved the spot back in the 60's).

Also, is anyone out there surfing with just a 2 mil or will i freeze.

Any info general or specific would be appreciated.

water in mid-low 50's now. wind is high, so it can get chilly. depends on your tolerance. jack's in HB has real boards (others only rent soft tops), but look into the archives here for other suggestions in south OC where you'll be (dana point, not north OC/south LA)
