Looking for a soft top board for my kids to start out on. Hoping someone has one that they are not using any longer. something around 5-6ft. Would also be interested in one of the NSP grom boards. Not looking to spend a lot.

Thanks
I'd recommend a 7'0, for those shin high "flat" days in the summer.
I second this. I, my brother, and most of our friends learned to surf on a 8' funshape. And 20 years later (yep, I'm getting old) I still ride it.
I got a 6'2" shortboard when I was 13. I went out a couple of times and became really discouraged because I kept bailing when I would popup. Some guy paddled out and taught me to surf using his 7'6". I was up by the second try. He told my parents buy us bigger board to learn on and a month later I was shredding on my shortboard. (ok, I probably wasn't shredding, but in my mind I was awesome! I was 13 and I could surf. It was epic :-p )
depends on their size. if they are 4 foot tall you don't want ot get them and 8 foot board. i started out on a 5'10'' because im a small guy and it worked out great. plus if you give them a 7'-8' board to start out on its going to be much harder for them to switch to a shortboard if they want to when they get older.
