    12 hr layover at LAX - where to longboard?

    I have a day to kill at LAX in the beginning of May. Any thoughts on a good mellow longboarder wave within 1.5 hr drive of LAX? Will have to rent a board and suit too. THANKS.

    hour and a half....

    well, traffic willing (after 9 and before 330), you could be in (and out of) orange county within an hour easy. jacks in Huntington Beach (pch at beach blvd and pch at main st/pier) both rent real boards.....lots of others only rent softops. also, crowds are small, especially midweek. have fun.

    Malibu or Topanga. Not sure where to rent gear there, but you can probably rent gear in Venice then head up there.
