Mike Daniels is a awesome shaper and with his vac bag tech the flex is very noticeable apparently, never ridden one, but have never heard a bad thing, and he is a really awesome guy. great craftsman.
Nothing short of awesome. Getting my 5th shaped now. Turnaround time is up to 10 weeks now though... email Mike@coilsurf.com. There's a thread on Swaylocks dedicated to Coils thats up to 350+ pages now (Coil Ride Report) with nary a negative word about them. My oldest one is 3 years and looks as white as when I got it.
Buddy has one (a wider wider board--small wave performance groveler)...rode it and really enjoyed it. My friend is incredibly heavy footed and really abuses decks (regardless of glassing schedule)...has really held up over the last few months not even a dent. Foil is definitely unique to a traditional board...but overall design and glassing is definitely a step above most "tech" boards.
Wish I could be a fly on the wall when they're glassing those things...
I can't speak to Coil, but I have a vac-tech epoxy custom from Jon Ashton (OC, MD) that I just got in Feb and it is pretty sweet. Not a ding or dent yet and I have whacked it pretty good during transport and in the water a few times. It's my first epoxy and I was worried it would be too corky, but I'm loving it so far.
Get one, you will not be disappointed.
I have a 5'11 coil m80 and I'm 6'0 190 and I love mine. Its awesome. Def feels like the right size. I bought a 5'10 of the same board for the summer but haven't ridden it yet. They carry these boards in stock at the pit in nags head nc. Great guy that runs the shop there. Then you wouldn't have to wait 10 weeks.
I wanted it for the summer but it seems like if I order it now I won't get it till aug... But they sound like great boards I seem to destroy decks anyone have any issues with denting the deck?
it is all vac bag tech... really strong epoxy construction. usually with carbon.
