First board built in progress pics Mini Simmons 5 4

Probably should wait till im done but im real excited about how everything is going. First bottom lam went pretty good. I was thinking it was going to be a nightmare. Im addicted now. I think im going to do a real light red tint on the deck and leave the finger prints and laps on the deck. This is my first board of many.

Looking good! Impressive so far for a first board in my opinion. What kind of fin are you going to install? My .02 as far as the fingerprints go: make sure its something that you'll want to look at for the next several years, you get a real emotional attachment to that first shape!

Thanks. I was thinking the fcs fk2. Because im 145lbs 5' 9. It has less area then a normal keel and should give me alittle more control. The first time glassing was a rush. But what made it even better is that i finished before the resin started to gel, and everything looked ok to me. I got resin on my knees threw my jeans and on my elbows. I had to throw some acetone on me scrub and jump in the shower, but after all the kaos was done the first lam is looking good.

I was thinking if a experienced board builder was watching me from a camera he would be laughing haha.

I think why i would keep the finger prints is to remember the time i put in, and everthing that has lead to building a board.

Wow that looks really great! Can't wait to see it finished, love the laps and finger marks. Epoxy resin or poly?

Are you gassing that in part of your house? It looks too nice to be a shed, lol.

Yeah, I had a similar experience to that. Glassing is intimidating based on what you hear, but it's kind of fun and not that hard at all once you get into it. It sounds like you're stoked on your board, make sure to update when it's done!
