I've been riding in the same area for about 4 years now, and while it's not the best around, I still feel the less light thats shown on it the better. It's simple and plain... crowds suck. People grow protective over thier home-breaks, and thats cool with me, because I think if you are out at the same spot all year, big or small waves, you earn that right. Just the way it is... and the more people that start riding waves, the worse this will get. If your friendly with people in the water, you'll get invited to different spots in time. Thats the best way to go about it.
Jimbo - you just gotta take it from older guys. Put yrself in their shoes, if they've been surfing for 20 years they've seen alot of people come and go... but they've stayed loyal and committed. Thats the difference, and thats what gives them the right. They went thru the same thing. But you gotta respect them, no matter what. If not you'll have a hard time with a lot more than bodyboarding. Since your young the best thing to do is stay quiet and humble...
