I believe is was a tropical depression called Albert.....is it normal for these kinds of storms to develop at this time of year and GO SOUTH?!
I've only surfed for the last year, but I've lived in FLA all my life and I'm a disaster relief worker.....I've been watching storms for a long time and can't recall one heading south like that. Is my recall bad or is this water temp issues? Mr. Forecaster, please shine some light on the subject.
not normal.. There has only been 18 named storms since record keeping began (1880'ish, i forget the exact year).
When they do develop super early they usually develop off the Florida coast or in the Gulf.
Alberto is gone now, so its not going anywhere... And, it really didn't move a whole lot during its short lifespan.
a new potential storm similar to alberto may be formed early this weekend!
I saw that last night....showed low off SE FLA and moving directly to me in St. Augustine! The reading has gone from 9.5 to 6ish since last night and I'm alright with that. I mean what the hell am I gonna do in 9.5 foot swell.....I'm too new at surfing for that.
I stoked but also worried about the weather pattern....it's not normal.
