If you understand how the forecast 'gets done' then Surfline has a ton of valuable info. HD cams are fun to look at, but hardly the be-all on whether to paddle out.
Highly recommended on Surfline: the 4-day nearshore & the 5 day LOLA. Also check out windguru.com.
('Cause swell don't mean a thing if it got too much wind.)
If you want pretty accurate wind forecasts, the tide info, & frequently updated swell forecast then Swellinfo is a good resource. MS has done a good job of dumbing it down to the common denominator (and this is kudos, not criticism). Plus, MS is very conscious of his audience & pays attention to what east coast guys would like from a forecasting site. Cool.
Combine wind, swell, tide info with what direction the sand under your feet is facing & you can pretty much get a gameplan.
If you just want somebody to tell you where to go surf, well, then...you is what it is.
