Watch the footage and tell me it's not disgusting, all to accomodate a growing Chinese middle class. Furthermore, I personally do not think it's our place to determine which species is more valuable or important than the next. Sorry, I'm a misanthrope, and in my worldview a shark is as equally as important as a human. I stand by my statement, and anybody who can dish out such unwarranted cruelty and disrespect to another living being should be treated with reciprocity, in my opinion. That mentality is the reason other apex predators such as wolves, mountain lions, etc., occupy a fraction of their pre-Columbian distibution ranges. Same goes modern whaling vessels, I'd love to see the crews walk the plank...and for the record I'm not a vegetarian, I'm all about ETHICAL harvesting.

Also, forgot to add, our country developed with the same disregard to the environment as those you mentioned, that's pretty much why we're in the mess we're in...and I didn't get those "facts" from the internet and it doesn't make me "feel better" about posting it...wish i didn't have to.

Y not fence (NOT NETS) the the shore line, you can't be upset with the population increasing but if we seperate humans and the wildlife without any harm to the marine life that would be great but the problem is the government will not act on this or any solution until there is a fatal attack you think they don't know they very well do, a friend of mine caught a 6ft gw off the coast of belmar nj and had to report it to the coast guard so they can tag it

The real problem on the Cape is that the bars washed on my favorite spot this year. We did have a GW attack this summer. But if you read into it. The fool was swimming 400+ yards offshore on a body board amongst seals. You go swimming that far out I say you asked for it.

More beach closings today till further notice. Just about all of Chatham through Nauset is now closed due to more shark sightings.

Funny how Discovery/History/NatGeo are now all about swamp loggers, gator catchers, mine this, kill that, yukon men wolf invasion...I mean fu(k, Animal Planet had to pull an episdoe where they used a trapped coyote that later died...if anything, they're not spreading eco-hype, they're desensitizing the populace for the final campaign.
