They are asking for it, so do you A. Keep going and let the cards fall how they may, or B. Take the high road and try to go around or pull off the wave?
I take the high road as safety of yourself and those around you is #1 concern in the water (side bar, if your on a long board or SUP make sure you can adequately control the thing both while riding and wiping out if you surf anywhere near anyone else)

Another problem is people just dont know how to paddle out anymore. if your paddling out and a wave is coming in and someone is on it, you paddle into the whitewash and dont ruin their ride. I hate when people cross the unbrokenface of the wave, your supposed to take the whitewash on your head like a man. I think some people intentionally mess up your ride if they see you catching a lot of waves.

I agree with this for the most part, I have short, long and SUP boards, so i've gotten to experience both sides of this and #1 thing is for everybody to be safe, however, I will admit there have been times where it was so obvious that someone was just being a jerk and will test you because they want to see if you will in fact hit them or not, and in which case i'll let it slide once, maybe even twice, but if you continue to do it on every take off, well then... don't you deserve to be shown you aren't as bad as you think you are? I personally have never been in any altercation over waves, but I sure have felt the urge, just sayin...

the thing that sux most about being a peaceful, mature person who doesnt lower themselves to the level of the guy antagonizing them is that you dont get to run them over with your longboard or SUP, so no you have to keep going around the, unfortunatly.

Besides if you did actually hit them and they were seriously hurt you would likely end up getting sued anyway and your insurance policy does not cover acts of gnar

You're right, Sloop; you never typed the words "summer pro" on the forum. Similarly, I never "typed" that you did.

To be honest, I don't know why you're bringing this thread "back to life" to call me an imbecile. That's neither cool nor tough and you should know better to do so.

You implied, baselessly, that I might personally use those words to demean a specific person's character. You quite randomly targeted me individually, and if that shouldn't elicit a response I truly don't know what should.

As for why I'm bringing the thread "back to life," I was on a sailboat in the Canadian Thousand Islands for a week while you sat here insinuating what type of **** I might say to people . . . sorry for the hiatus. I can tell you missed me.

First off, you're right - I did "imply" that you may use "those words to demean a specific person's character." I came to that conclusion through your thread and your posts that followed. I have every right to "imply" as that is my opinion. You have the right to imply that I am an "imbecile" and that I "missed you," as that is your opinion and I am not going to try and force you to change your opinion. Going back to my original quote, it was clearly a joke - relax.

That's awesome that you were in the Thousand Islands - great place to sail, from personal experience. I wouldn't go to the extreme that I was "insinuating" what you would say; although, I was definitely implying what you might say.

You're reading too far into this forum. If you were seriously offended by my comment(s), then I truly apologize. Let's bury the hatchet and this thread.

Did you wear a funny hat? If one is yachting in the Canadian Thousand Islands, one must have a funny, little yachting cap to wear on your dinghy. That and a knife to fend off the sharks and pirates. Seriously, dredging up this thread is awesomesauce. My sailing cap is off to you skipper! Sail the Canadian Thousand Islands the exotic and sunny rocks right off Intersate 81! Adventure awaits!
