How Flat is Summer in East Florida ?

Hey there..i am currently living in Germany, and really love to surf, but unfortunately there is no ocean here in germany where i live.
i used to surf in france in the summer, and i am an intermediate surfer, working on cutbacks, turns , etc...

so i want to move to some country with waves...
basically i have three choices where to go:

australia : good waves, but crap government, ( i am an avid hunter and shooter, and all these things are banned in australia)...also australia is f***ing expensive to live.

california: good waves, arrogant universities(gonna be enrolled for the next years), expensive..also californian government basically screwed up their hunting and firearm laws in the past as well...:-(

florida: good hunting & firearm laws, i like the weather
    BUUUUUUUUUUUT:

i heard summer surf in florida is pretty weak ?? But how Weak is it exactly ?? if its just a 4 week period with less swell i can deal with it.

i know that i can deal with 1 footers and chop - since i am from germany i am glad if i can take my 6'0" shortboard to water and get some waves at all.

so i dont need 4ft offshore and ****. but there should be some rideable days a week at least.( since florida is fun for hunting etc, i will know what to do on the flat days ).

thanks in advance to you guys, i hope its not to much to read, and would be glad to get some useful answers !

Summer time is most definitely the flatest time of year for Florida. But, spring, fall, and winter are fun. It is inconsistent, like all of the East Coast, but its warm and has some decent waves. Its definitely less expensive living then California.

I live in Baltimore, Maryland, but have family in the central coast of Florida and have been surfing there regularly since 1999. Summer can have it's flat spells, but fall, winter and spring make up for it and the ocean is warm pretty much all year long, maybe a light suit in winter. Not gonna get political, but if you want to carry a gun and shoot things, Florida is a great state for that. The fishing is top notch also.

ZBass has you in the right direction..its also like being on the sun here during the summer..I saw somewhere that eastcoast surfers need to have a hobbie during flat spells..looks like you have that covered..

Summer's can get flat, But if you have a Paddleboard or a good longboard it can be fun anyday (: . But if you're going to move to FL, Move somewhere in north east florida, Since we're open to alot more swell directions & there is also New Symrna to go to in the summer when its flat.

Yea, but also keep in mind what the previous posters have said about new symrna. There are more shark attacks in that county then any other place in the world. true fact. In fact, if your really considering moving anywhere in florida I would get really comfortable around teeth if I was you.

im pretty sure if he picked california, austrailia, and florida, he has had to think about sharks sometime...those are the sharkiest places minus south africa and the northwest
