    Gotta ask... Why Tonga?
I knew someone from there and they were not fans after moving to the Philippines for a few years then to the US. It's really remote.

Why? because its there I suppose. Its about the same travel time and expense going there from HI as it is for me to go to the east coast or central america. Plus you don't need a boat to reach many of the breaks.

    Screw the east coast!
But how about El Salvador? I know you've been...
I'm itching to get back there...are there lefts in Tonga?
Those rights were so perfect they made backside seem like front side.

Hey Mitch, theres supposed to be predominately lefts in summer S swell season and more rights in the winter NW season. I'm hoping for more late season S obviously...

I've wanted to go to Tonga since reading an article in surfer back in the 90's
I seem to remember the claim then of lots of world class waves and very little in the way of crowds

Let us know what you find if you go

Truth, or are they trying to keep it under wraps? Oipaul, looks like you may have the hookup if you can get last minute flights from HI and keep an eye on the swell.
