I don't know how it is up north, but the south takes a yearly beating from hurricanes every year. Right now, the homes on CB's Northend are in trouble - their ocean walkways go right into the ocean. If it wasn't for beach re-nourishment programs, the damage would be over whelming. Homes would be lost, streets would be flooded, not to mention the sewer system and power supply would be in danger. I am glad that the big wigs take our coastline into consideration when divvying out tax dollars. Down south, we love the OBX; if it was not for re-nourishment programs, there would be no OBX left. In the end, I would rather have the "govt controlling <our> beach" than have no beach at all.
