    surf camp?

Where can I pick up a performance surf camp working on stuff like air reverse, etc? I don't compete anymore (used to) and need some recommendations. I have been working on air reverse but haven't been able to have it click yet.

Surf Simply in Costa Rica. Beyond belief how worth it this place is. Superb one-to-one instruction x3 hrs per day in the water x6 days. And you'll have the gorgeous CR waves under your feet, instead of right coast slop, thus you can actually work on whatever it is you want to improve upon.

Been there (surf simply) x2 in the past year. Best deal out there, no lie. PM me if you want more info & no, I'm not a shill for them. Just a fan.

looks to be a bit of group hug - not quite my style either. but that being said, i appreciate the idea and wouldn't mind taking some kind of an intermediate surf lesson sometime myself. forget air, i'd be happy just to improve the basics, break some bad habits, get more out of each wave etc. etc.

a couple consecutive days of decent surf might be equally helpful...

"Group hug...?" Good one, that's funny.

    It's a great coaching / teaching environment.

You get 3+ hours in the ocean, every day, with superb one-to-one instructors, on great waves, along with video feedback. A lot of newbs go there, sure, but so do a lot of accomplished surfers for training. One of the instructors has experience on the pro tour. At the end of the week, you're so surfed out & your head is so full of technical knowledge, it's awesome.

But, I hear you; you should probably skip the place if you're seeking an isolated existence to learn in. You don't sound as if you'd enjoy the stoke of a cool place with good people whose passion is improving your surfing & which still has that friendly, stoked aspect to it. That's the aspect that's missing in action at most breaks. Instead, you may end up coughing up 60 beans per hour with some young buck yelling 'pop up, dude' or some burnout mumbling 'just do the carving turn, man.'

You're right: the place isn't for everyone. Good luck with the lessons. If you find a good instructor, hope you let us know.
