Sorry Cep, I call bull. Maybe it gets 20' - 40', but Teahupo'o is a MASSive wave. It's thick man, there's so much weight behind it. It's supposed to be one of the heaviest, ride-able waves on the planet just because of the volume of water. I don't think it's comparable to anything. At least that's what I've read. Got a link to a video of this Beast of the East?

Also, are saying that it's okay to tow into chest to head high waves, so you can catch more and the best of them? Seriously? Seems kind of like a weak, cop-out way, to catch a relatively small wave to me. I mean, sh1t I've never seen anybody tow into Sunset Cliffs or Black's or the Slough and I've ridden 'em all on BIG days. Not Hawaii big, but San Diego big all the same.

Yeah watched some of the wild side vids, and I have to say that it is pretty rude and pointless. Obviously those guys can paddle out but in that case it's just bad manners. That being said, If you can't paddle out you shouldn't be out there.

Surfline did an article on Irene last year that featured their crew towing around Fenwick Island. If you search through youtube, you'll find videos from guys towing into waves in OCMD.

I don't know the wildlife crew but those guys are "working" trying to get video of barrels and they do a damn fine job. They sell photos, videos, and types of other sh*t. That's their little money maker. Like I said, I don't know the guys but they might have jobs outside of getting pitted all the time. If not, then they are doing it for a career. Then it's their livelyhood. Don't get me wrong though, I'm sure those kooks were effing shi* up worse than chuck norris in southeast asia and probably deserved to have had that ski flipped and sunk and have no insurance on it.

how could you not want to try towing in at least once? You'd be flying down the line at mach 30. Seems like fun to me.

happy to see so many replies

    1) i don't know the legality of it all. during the summer season i know it's a no no. however during the off season i'm not sure of the limits of pwc's in the surf zone. my main gripe is they were doing in semi crowded line ups. if they were up on the north side of town where no one really surfs it would of been a different story.

    2) i didn't call the cops because i was in the water and wasn't going to let them ruin an otherwise great day.

    3) i didn't "chase them down" because that's just silly. that's a clown question bro.

    4) i KNOW someone on here has to know these kids or they may even post here themselves. i'd love to hear your side of this ridiculous story.

PS how good has it been the last 3 days?
