I don't want to hear it. The Bahamas cock-blocked everything south of Sebastian down here.

This past Sunday I was out catching 3-5ft glassy perfect waves for hours without any end in sight, and judging by the cams it hasn't let up, not one bit.

While I was paddling back from catching a perfect left hander this guy tells me "Man, this is really challenging, i'm not catching much, how about you?"

Reply: "I've been catching chest to head high lefts and rights for the last couple hours, it was better earlier, but it's still going strong".

Random guy: "Yeah, I just think the tide is wrong or the wind isn't cooperating"......

Your crazy.. This has been a great hurricane swell. And it's just getting better. How are you complaining?

Central NJ had clean and solid 5-7' surf late Wednesday and all day Thurs. Dunno where you were but we had a nice swell.

I hate when people talk up ****ty surf. Why can't you all be honest. At least here in SNC this swell has been terrible. Just long dumping lines. Maybe it is better in some spots but overall this swell has been the same big close out surf everyday. In my opinion the worse surfer you are the better your gonna think this surf is cause it has some size and some power. But overall this surf is very poor for any good surfer.
I've heard some places have been fun like OBX, where it can hold the size but for the most part this swell was a big dissapointment.

Oh, a buddy of mine proved my point today. He was like bro just got out and it was supper fun! Now he surfs about as much as your momma does, so right there I know he doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. Get it!

I caught it fun this morning here in NJ but overall I agree with the OP that these hurricane swells don't match up to a late fall/early spring south swell. Maybe a lot of people have had great seshes from Leslie and I don't doubt any one, including the posters on this thread, who said they have.

But just as fishermen are known for telling fish tales that exxagerate the size of the fish they caught, I think a LOT of surfers tend to exaggerate how good the waves they just rode are. Many, many times I have stood on shore watching a crowd of surfers in a swell like this dropping in on total closeouts (and many not even taking off on anything at all) and then when they come out I ask the how it was and they rave about how great it is.

I am not sure this applies to Leslie. The swell period has actually hovered around 10-12 seconds for the past few days so a lot of the sandbars seem to be handling it better than a lot previous hurricane swells. Before the wind came up this morning I was really surprised to see how well my fave sandbar was handling this swell.
