Thread: The Cove?

    The Cove?

Not that you would tell me, but is the Cove surfable with this swell or is it still small? The Buoy #44065 says 4.6ft now...planning on waking up the sun there tomorrow morning

I'm sure this is top secret info and you need a high level gov't security clearance.
I haven't surfed there in several years, so maybe it has improved since the army corp of engineers tinkered with it. Good Luck!

If you're talking about "The Cove" break north of IRI a few hundred yards, I caught it great last year on a bigger swell (5-7' i think). I surfed IRI on Wed and this morning, and saw guys out at the cove both days. It really didn't look that good - shorepound mostly. On Wed when I watched the cove for about 30 min from the dune overlooking IRI north jetty, the only rides people were getting was a quick takeoff into a closeout section. I guess you could call that "ridable." I didn't really look too closely at the guys riding the cove this morning but it looked there were about 5 guys out.

IRI was kind of fun this morning at low tide. The surf school came out later and the hot instructor in the blue bikini was there, so we had some eye candy.

Exponentially growing crowds are awesome, particularly when you help grow them. NOT.

was talking about the Jersey Cove, but thank you anyway. If am ever in Delaware, I will check that one out...and hopefully get to see some eye candy too!

Sure there is more people on the water these days, but not all can surf the cove at low tide, so if you know what your doing, then you know there is no need to worry

since your talking about IRI I was wondering if it has gotten any better with the bit of swell coming through? Last time I was there was the end of July and it was basicly shore break. I really miss what that place was a couple of years ago.

Oh and is "the cove" the spot between IRI and tower road?

IRI does seem to be breaking smaller, especially this year. The Mid Atlantic > Southern Delaware forecast needs to be at least 2-3 ft for it to be even worth checking. Otherwise, you're right - basically shore break. And yes, I've heard the break between Tower Rd. and IRI north jetty called "The Cove." The swell needs to be at least 4 ft maybe 5 ft for the "Delmarva Cove" to break.

Sorry jersey peeps for inserting the "Delmarva Cove" into a "Jersey Cove" thread . . .

as if there are not 200 places referred to as the cove. haha. just go there and figure it out. why would you post this crap. no one wants spots advertised. do your homework and drive there and check it. sometimes youll get skunked. when you score you know the right conditions. why are people talking about surf spots here? sorry to be negative but unless it is a super obvious beach break dont write about it online. its packed enough
