The tour is just a bunch of surfers circle jerking each other off. Dane just wants some tasty waves & a cool buzz. I don't blame him for jumping ship.
Agreed man. I do enjoy watching the tour events but the stuff Dane puts out through Marine Layer is much better than watching him surf a heat. Plus he doesn't have that tour attitude, he's not going to paddle battle and hassle for waves. He has been pushing surfing progression so much more since he dropped off the tour.Originally Posted by dlrouen

Dane has mentioned how awkward it is showing up at the tour hotel/condo with a case of Budweiser, while all the other surfers are doing sit-ups, push-ups, jump rope, etc. His progression is a beacon of light in the surfing world. Dane manages to balance power surfing with this modern aerial BS on a CI Sperm Whale - his design of course. In all honesty, I credit Dane for raising awareness that you don't need to paddle a potato chip to dominate/have a great time - Mini-Simmons/Sperm Whale-esque shapes.

Dane is a better contest surfer when he doesnt go all the time...and especially when there are ample waves. Dood hates to hassle...and i hate seeing that sh!t anyways.
Wish dane won...but its hard to beat kelly in a barrel riding contest.
I agree. clay marzo is so unpredictable with his asberger's syndrome. but he f'in rips! he's one of my favorite surfers ti watch just because you have no idea what he is gonna do next. albee just straight up charges
