ADVICE! when you hit a VB break study whos out there first so you know how to surf with the locals and still get your rides. Especially on a good day. Even though edicate goes out the window sometimes/alot its good to carry stoke out with you and honor other surfers. NOt to mention holding your ground. Have fun exploring
If you don't want to go as far as the NC outerbanks, there are some great spots down in the Sandbridge area of VB. There are also some great spots on the north-end of the beachfront. For instance, during the Leslie swell, I was down at 58th street and we were getting good chest-to-head-high sets coming through. The only minus during the summer is there are hours where you can't surf on most areas of the beachfront ... you have to wait till the off-season after labor day and before memorial day for all-day surfing hours, or look for red-flag days. The good news is that when there is a huge swell, it's typically a red-flag day :-)
