    ...lost vs channel island

My vote's mayhem all the way..everything about them, the marketing, the videos, the riders, the shaper and the way they ride! But that's a total opinion...not knocking the merricks in any way.. so what's your pick? Just curious

never ridden a lost, but I've tried several channel islands. I found CI kinda clunky...yeah, they're super stable, but I just think they're a little weird. I've also ridden a bunch of Rustys and they were a better riding/more tuned board on average than CI.

Love them both. Have always been a CI guy but have recently gotten on the Lost train. I like the refinement of the CI boards...and yes not all CI boards are created equal. But I have a few guys that I like to stick with as I have grown accustom to their rails and foils. I do think that a lot of their boards work well in better waves and since we dont get good waves all the time Ive started exploring the lost line.

The guys at lost are awesome and I really like their open mindedness to design and construction. There are lots of cool innovative ideas as far as blanks, design, and glassing that get me fired up. Plus its hard to beat designing your board on the AKU shaper program with him...love that! The ghost shapers and factory guys at lost are also amazing, plus their in house glass jobs are bullet proof. Very cool and down to earth...cant wait for my new boards!

    For me,
Smaller waves or normal fat socal conditions: Lost
Better waves or more powerful stuff: CI

Both can have similar pricing so that is a wash.

LOST! I had the flow hook-up with Channel Islands and rode them for 15 years. Had some real magic boards. But after Burton bought them out, the custom orders became very incosistant, and even though the shapes were great, they would fall apart within months. I tried a few Losts, and loved how they rode. Bought a CI and Lost at the same time. Rode them both equally. Put my foot through the tail on the CI within 2 weeks. The Lost held up for a much longer time. Far superior glass jobs. Even with the hook-up, i'll never buy another CI. Anyone else, for the price, Mayhem is the way to go for sure. So digusted to see the price tags for off the rack CI's. $750 and up, plus the fins are sold seperatley. Over $800 out the door for a board that will last 6 months tops is a joke. Plus I like Matt Biolas' concept in shaping boards for anyone at any level. Alot of the boards he shapes for the pros, the average joe could ride. Very user friendly. It's so funny to watch kids rush to the store to buy the newest Dane or Kelly model, and being sold something they can't ride confidantley. CI sold out and went to ****.

Really what boards are retailing for 750+? Who was shaping your boards at CI?

the glass seems heavier on my one lost board vs my one CI. Probably going with a lost for my next one
