That sucks. You guys need some artificial reefs more than we do up here in MD.

i was watching the cam this afternoon during low tide and the wave out there looked really fun. it was a chest high dumping barrel with some nice shoulders. i didnt go out for the obvious reasons, but it did look fun. everywhere else was pretty much flat. it's amazing how that spot musters up a wave where other places are producing nothing. i wish they would put more jetties out down here

yea seriously the only reason i surf there is because of how reliable it can be. the morning session was fun. 5 guys waist high peelers and clean. wednesday, i won't even be going near that place.

There's a wave coming through where everyone is sitting outside. The peak isn't up against the jetty. I think it use to be a lot worse in the 80's...

It's not as bad as it looks ... a lot of people at 1st street just sit out there all day waiting for the largest sets and don't catch them when they do come through. Plus, if you're willing to paddle a couple blocks to the north, i.e., 4-5th street, you can pretty much stay clear of the crowd, although you do loose some of the advantages created by the sandbars next to the jetty. You'll still get some good breaks though.

Agree, that's what I usually do and I think that sandbar hasn't been that far off the jetty recently- there are other places in VAB to go when its good. You just end up driving further south/north depending what you find. Drive an extra hour + south and your'e options increase big time in the obx.

Try 1st point Malibu. I have seen the same amount out on a midnight session there.

the irony is that you can surf all alone just to the north or south of that jetty. So alone it gets creepy.
