did you know oz has a 'pipeline' all its own??? truly one of the better spots but mention of
it is discouraged and the road signs are down and the mags never talk about it….anybody
want directions to it?
plenty of barreling waves in oz,I guess u can call it pipeline or whatever.
gnarloo is a left and kirra is a right.those are the 2 that come to mind
no - but good guesses. the oz pipe is in nswales, about 3/4 hrs south of sydney; hit
nowra, head to the coast where the inside is jervis bay. it sits on the east side of
jervis bay, takes a e/ne wind offshore and so. swell…they really covered it back up;
one of the reasons they want the tourists to go to the goldie…another is it might be
controlled by aborigines..but as far as surfing beaches go its a beaut...
nope. the aussie pipe has been intentionally buried (and well so) by australian
surfers and their culture…to the point of disappearance…..but it hasn't disappeared.
up to about 1980 they loved putting it in the mags…now that is NEVER done. no surf
i last surfed it in 1979 - possibly the last american to do so (but prob not) - due to ethnic
issues these days one would have to boat in or jet ski or sup…parking a car there prob not.
the aussie wanker surf community has tried hard - as californians did in cali - to scrub certain
breaks out of existence. this tends to work for foreigners but not for people like me who
got some before the curtain fell. last thing - the comparison to pipe hawaii is LEGIT!!!!!!
the only Australian pipeline Ive ever known is a spot called Black Rock. Tom Carroll and those early 80's aussie pros were frequently photographed surfing there. I read more than one article on the place in the 80's. youre right though, haven't heard anything about the place for decades now.
