I'm not exactly a hard-core rebel, but do they have any actual authority on this?
I was going to check it in AM and let the conditions make up my mind

all i've been able to find is this tweet:

Bloomberg: The beaches are dangerous, and surfing is extremely dangerous. No surfing tomorrow, please. #Sandy @NYNJSurf

he spoke at length on it and definitely said, 'no surfing' but he didn't say there would be cops on the boardwalk

You think the following statement applies just to beach park? or all of long beach?

"Beach park is closed and entry into the ocean is strictly prohibited."

bloomberg doesn't have jurisdiction over Long Island. He's the mayor of NYC, not the governor of NY.

Long beach isn't part of NYC. It is its own city.
