M#se is the place! A buddy and I went over there this morning to surf clean waist to chest and bigger surf. We're in the water not to long before a guy was like, "you have a blue boat"? My buddy is like yeah why? Well, its in the rocks! Now he wasn't sure what kind it was but turns out it was this other guys boat. The tide was extemely high and current was really bad and I guess their anchor gave and washed them into the rocks. Guy said it looked bad. I was wondering if anyone heard how bad it was? Felt bad for them cause it was going off too. But then the tide dropped a few hours later and kind of killed it!

It got really good again in the afternoon--solid chest and barreling. Didn't see any disabled boats, so they must have gotten it off. I think Evan B. has a blue-hulled classic Mako, could that have been it? If so, the glass on those old hulls is about 1" thick and can take a pretty good beating without breaching (I used to have one).

I had something similar happen to me back when I was in middle school. A buddy and I went to Mase during a Nor'Easter in February and surfed from low to high tide. Came back out to the first bay--no boat! Looked waaaay down Shinn Creek and saw it close to where the channel intersects the ICW. Turns out the anchor slipped and would not reset due to the wind and current. Luckily it got caught on an old fishing net, otherwise who knows how far down the ICW the boat would have wound up. Man, that was a looooong paddle after a long sesh!

The key is to let out a lot of line so you have enough scope. You can't have the anchor straight up and down. The chain needs to drag on the bottom... And most boats need a bigger anchor than what comes with the boat.

Erock I hear ya. I think I heard about your boat drifting away That time. It might have been Evan B's boat cause the Powell brothers were with him. He didn't looked to worried when the guy told them. Like the wanted to stay and surf. We knew it was going to barrel after the tide came back in.
When we left some guys had beached their boat earlier in the morning thinking they could get out before the tide got to low. So when we left at 11 they where stuck! Took 6 of us and we could barely move it and one guy was like 6'4 250! Your so right about letting enough line out. They prob got to excited to surf and didn't see if the anchor was set.
