anyone have any good websites or references for water quality reports?
With this north/northeast wind i have a ****ty feeling (pun intended) that the water is going to pretty gnar once the wind cleans it up on wednesday.

Not sure that much testing is being done right now at ocean beaches. At least not by the DEP or EPA. You'll have better luck trying to contact the local sewage authority closest to your break, because they're supposed to be testing their effluent regularly. That, or get in touch with local chapter of any non-profits that might be doing some testing locally. If you get any of that info, post it up here!

I just got off the phone with someone from the county, who said Monmouth County does sampling at ocean beaches year 'round. The latest sampling was done yesterday, and the results should be available tomorrow. If they are available, they'll be posted here...

Results from one sampling site in the Wreck Pond area were all in the safe range for Enterococci bacterial contamination... very, very low levels, actually... all <10 cfu/100ml (colony forming units per 100 milliliters of water). For reference, the danger zone for a single sample begins at 104. This is only one of several sites sampled in Monmouth County, and the rest of the results are expected to be in the safe range as well. If that turns out to be true, bacterial contamination is not an issue for getting back into the water around here.

My first surf after Sandy was on the 14th by my house in Lido and I haven't had any negative repercussions thus far. Before I decided to go in, I'd talked with a few others who had been in the water during the Nor'Easter and they were doing alright a week later. Unfortunately the lack of resources on water quality available at this time make me inclined to surf, especially after seeing that other people arent getting sick either. and the fact that the water doesn't smell like a toilet.

I'm hoping its not going to be too bad and the Sh*** water wont get pushed down too far south, I give my prayers out to any tragedies that happened to local breaks, Ocean City Maryland wasnt impacted bad at all water qual. wise. I think we had worse damage with house flooding and land damage rather than ocean impact. However, My wife and I plan on going to Hatty for this weekend coming up possibly unless my home break is intended to have better surf that is... But I am curious of the wind conditions as well as the water conditions too. So if anyone can find a link or links to water reports for hatteras like our brothers Shorebreaker and JerseyRider have provided for us it would be greatly appreciated. I started a thread a few mins ago.. Hit up with feedback fellas !!!!
