Thread: thick gloves

    thick gloves

It's that time of year in RI and was wondering does anyone else find the thicker gloves harder to tuck under your wetsuit once one is on I always have trouble getting it nice on the other one. I usually just end up dealing with it. Does anyone else find this difficult to tuck under with 7 mil gloves?

i have this problem too! ever since i got 7mill mittens. i would get frustrated and just leave one glove tucked over the suit. im thinking for my next session ill put the gloves on first, cover it with plastic shopping bag and then slip it through the sleeves while i put my wetsuit on. haven't tried it but sounds like it could work. ill let you know.

use your teeth to lift up the edge, then slide your thumb in and work your way around pulling your wetsuit sleeve over the glove. thats what i do

I saw a guy in a video use one of these to help pull the gloves on and under the wetsuit:

Gave me the idea to use a bent coat hanger as a cheaper alternative. Works reasonably well.

Is pulling the wetsuit over the gloves and boots the way that it's designed to be done? Over the years I have gone back and forth and never knew what was correct. I don't really notice a difference with gloves, but with the boots not tucked they sometimes seem to hold excess water. Either way, neither boots or gloves ever stay the way I started them?

I have considered rubberbands before, however, I have been successful with the rolling method. I have considered the plastic bags before as well.

On a side note, I was about to go surfing one day and my wetsuit was still wet from the day before. Obviously, not the most pleasant of feelings. My girl wanted to watch and snap some photos considering it was the Chesapeake Bay. I didn't want her to be cold so I was looking through my gym bag and found her some extra layers and had a fleece pullover my grandma gave me. Not really my style, but I saw those Rip Curl wetsuits (if I am not mistaken) with the fleece on the inside. I put it on and then put on my wetsuit (over it). Made a heck of a difference! It didn't choke me, but make sure you hold the sleeve as you put on your wetsuit. I hope this information comes in handy unless everyone else has been doing this all along.
