The phrase "dead-head" comes from die hard fans of the Grateful Dead, not necessarily stoners. And by the way, there are plenty of intelligent and active people out there who smoke up, brosiff.
I can't blame you young guys for wanting to smoke some nuggets. I can say that I smoked my fair share of the kine bud. Now I am 37 years old and finally doing something with my life. I ain't here to preach to none of you guys, just to let you know about my reality. I smoked the best and all the rest for 20 years man. It was part of me, my identity. I saw no harm in it and didn't care who knew I smoked. I found out in the long run that it wasn't worth it. Life is better without it. I have been clean from active drug addiction for just over a year now and life is sweeter than it ever could have been while I was numbing my brain. Don't give a rat's ass who don't like this, but I speak the truth. Keep smoking your dope and being cool, it'll catch up with you man. Just trying to spread some truth and help young minds get focused. Surf your ass off, get educated, then you can retire early and surf more. Life is what you make it and if you want to be a doper then go for it. Just don't blame others and society for the life you live.
