    i think that's about right for here, too...but i'm getting those numbers from right here on SI. where does SI get them from?

    Probably bouy data. The water gets a lot warmer the further off shore and closer to to gulfstream you get.

    I think there's a glitch in how the temp is updating. SI uses buoy 41110, which is right off Masonboro Inlet, for our local forecast and whatnot. Fryingpantower.com, the fishing site I frequent is showing it accurately at 53 deg this am.

    There was a coding typo, which caused the mix up in the Ocean Temps.
    This has been fixed!

    Thanks for bringing this to our attention. In the future, don't hesitate to say something if you notice anything funky...
