They have been trying to dial it in better for a while now. There are a lot of factors involved with forecasting RI.
Why don't you help out by using the Spot On function whenever you check it. According to Gaffer, this helps fine tune the algae-rhythms and makes for forecasting happy fun time go go.
I've noticed the same the past couple days...buouy's at 6+ feet and there's nothing going on, I think there's too much west in the swell for any actual waves to be showing up. I have noticed all throughout the fall if anything the days I was out seemed underforecast or spot on(been using the spot on function to contribute). I think the glich is with these swells that have a lot of west in them...that being said, like any other weather forecast there are variables that are subject to change and I'm overall pretty happy with the job SI does.

I don't mind so much. I wouldn't mind a north west swell report six days out just to see that nice green picture of something to look forward to. I'm very happy with s.I. just killing time till my under ground wave generator's finished

I'll take a look at the south facing breaks forecast, which is the default Rhode Island forecast.
Maybe, we should do away with the south facing forecast.
When I was running the report on my webpage, swellinfo was off more often than it was on. As ERock said there are so many factors with Rhode Island, however, with many SSW swells most of the south facing beaches are missed because of their Easterly angles, along with the reefs. My advice is to check numerous times and you'll see how temperamental your spots can be.
I think we are all swell starved on the east coast
