Question Spring suits vs. 3/2 full suits

    Hi everyone,
We are on the east coast NJ, and are looking to see what the best transition suit is.
We have winter 5/4/3 suits right now. We would love to be able to be out of these by May. We are not looking to purchase several suits, ideally if we can stick to one we have now and 1 more suit to take us through the seasons that would be best.

What do you reccomend for seasons May- Sept?

    Hey fellow SpongerChicks,

I notice you girls ask tons of questions...which is great, that's how you learn!

Ideally, you want a variety of wetsuits to prepare you for the drastic East Coast conditions...but, if you're limited at this point, I always like to be warm than cold!

Great to see more girls in the water, especially bodyboarding!

If you have any more questions, I'd be amped to help you out.....either on this msg board or through myspace at www.myspace.com/justinerenzi
Hopefully we'll cross paths in the line-up soon, at contests, travels, etc. My local spot is Ocean City, Maryland.

Keep charging and spread the stoke to all your girlfriends!

You'll probably have to save your pennies to buy a 3/2 and maybe a springsuit as well. Down here in NC I can just go from my 3/2 to no wetsuit, but the water gets real warm here.

Are you in northern or southern NJ? I remember the water being pretty warm around Cape May and Wildwood, but I lived in Boston when I visited those beaches so anything would seem warm in comparison.

    Justine--great photos!

That seems to be the advice from EVERYONE to get the 3/2 infinity suits. We are so eager to get out of this neoprene! But I am sure that a 3/2 will be much different than the 5/4 we have now, we just can't wait to get out of this hood!

    Wetsuits

Over the late spring, summer and early fall, I alternate between a springy, 3/2 and a jacket and boardshorts depending on how hot and humid it is out, winds, time of day, etc. The water temps never really go above the low 70s here (NE), which is why after a couple of years you'll end up with a quiver of wetsuits that will make any well-stocked surf shop jealous.

This time of year gets to be kind of a pain in the rump - when it's 76 out one day and the water is 49. I was practically dying that day in my 4/3, but when I took off my hood (2mm cap) I ended up with brain freeze!

Two suits you'll definitely want to own her are a good winter suit (5/4 of 6/4) and a good 3/2 fullsuit. I consider a shortie or a 4/3 luxuries - nice to have but you don't need them. If its warm enough to wear a shortie it's warm enough to trunk it, and you can either wear your winter suit longer into june and be a little too warm, or bust out the 3/2 early and brave the cold. Nice to see more girls taking up the sport, good luck!

    Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply....sometimes we forget to double check this forum

Checked out your bodyboarding site Ballbags...really liked it and we will keep it in mind for future purchases! Our 3/2 suits have been great and well worth the extra cash...looking forward to trunks and a rash guard in a few weeks...if it warms up...it's been on the cooler side the last 1 to 2 weeks but the surfs been hot soooo we're not complaining!

Scarecrow--we are up in Monmouth County, NJ. I used to live in Boston too about 6-7 years ago...talk about chilly water! Hope you're enjoying NC...nice area!

Spongah--let us know if you'll be in our area...we have to meet up and play!
