I'm. Getting back into surfing after 11 years. Yea tyrant ex husband grounded me. Anyway I always surfed either Surfside or Gtown. Gtown is 45 minutes or more from me depending where I go. And as much as Surfside is the love of my life it's gotten crowded not to mention takes me 1+ hours to get there so I usually have to get a room. I'm a single mom on a budget so I can't always do this.
This past summer I stayed with some peeps on High Island no one ever talks about it so never considered surfing it. It's 30 minutes from me! Such an easy drive and so not crowded. I've seen some good surf in the spots I've stayed. I know there has to be some honey holes down there so start talking! any help is much apprec mahalo.
You'll find that if it isn't a popular, crowded spot, no one is going to tell you about it. They don't stay uncrowded if they are posted on the internet or talked about
You'd have to do some scouting on your own.
Good luck though, and maybe you'll get lucky and someone will let atleast some spot slip.

Yea me and a buddy were talking this weekend about a**holes and how none of the spots over there are the same since Ike came through. I was just hoping there was anything out there. You would think there are at least one or two good spots out there. Well see I'm just going to have to cruise down there and check every nook and cranny out there. I'm determined to find a good spot.
One spot i know that gets ok during high tide is right over the tool bridge from Galv. Treasure island has a bulk head that gets good with an east swell. Don't go if its a south swell, it will pull you out a little. None ever surfs it, but me and who every i bring with me that day. We need a pier on the upper coast so bad.
