That place now houses a couple surf shops, an upscale sushi bar, ice cream, coffee, T-shirt shop, and tons of shady docs. Pizza place is still there and does an all you can eat pizza on mondays. The Tico who owns like all of ST, older guy big cowboy hat and belt buckle, only guy with a helicopter, is actually starting to sell off some of the mountain land in MP....but the prices are nuts like 350 for a hectre, kind of sad I go there every year and every year it seems to get smaller and smaller. Still magical though for sure, Osa is still empty...so there is hope

Man that sucks. Its gotten kind of weird down there in the last few years, they still havent paved the road, and the six hour drive from SJO diverts alot of people away to Jaco or Tamagringo, but now there are all of these famous people who have bought property there like Mel Gibson I think has been there for awhile but Bruce Springstein and Miley Cirus have places there now. The first night I was there this year I went for a late night walk and wound up talking to some guys around a pool, the next day I found out it was the band Rise Against. Strange demographic, very few locals still living there and its still like the wild west as far as crime goes, but you can surf everyday and its warm and still feels raw, so still paradise.

What time does it get dark there? Trying to see if I can squeeze a session in the day I arrive, after checking in and renting boards and all the fun stuff. How late is a sunset session there?

As close as it is to the equator the days are almost exactly 12 hours long everyday. Suns up at 5:30 and sets at 5:30, the sunset session is pretty brutal with the sun hitting you in the face but there is a new outdoor night club that kicks up around 5pm with the reggae music at Playa Carmen and while there look up and you will see 4sets of stadium lighting pointing at the break that they turn on sometimes and you can surf at night.

I am in CR right now. Everyone said the surf was funky today, but I was happy to be out there. Big outside and chest inside, but to catch the inside even though you could get more rides you would get wrecked by outsiders. Why did no one tell me to get an impanada. They are heaven on Earth. Only one annoying thing is the dust is everywhere. Looked for yellow bellied sea snakes but with no luck, chicarronne. Thanks guys, help appreciated.

Dude, Playa Negra is in the guanacaste province of costa on the pacific side, so its just north of Santa Teresa. Not the Carribean side. Thought Id let you know.

Ha! My wife had casado piscado tonight for dinner at l'as tortugas. I can highly recommend this hotel/restaurant. Low key, ecofriendly and rustic, on the beach. First time here, the localism caught me off guard a bit in playa grande. Tamarindo had a great vibe in the line up though.

Anyone ever hear of Tribal Adventure Tours? Met the owner in the line up and thinking of setting up a trip to witch/ollies/others. But I can't find any info online except for a Facebook page that was set up in dec. His business card seems legit but was wondering if anyone can verify?
