Any word on buoy 44009? She's not even listed on the maintenance schedule. I sure do miss her data.
44009 was minding her own business while cruising for male hookers in San Juan Del Sur Nicaragua when she was gagged and duct-taped by one very pissed off looking bikini-clad L. Ginsberg, muttering something to the effect of... "stealing 44009 and re-anchoring in Nica' being the only way to get the Jersey boys to come back..."
HOWEVER, SouthJettyBill came swinging down on a canopy-tour zipline, scooped up 44009 in his teeth and epoxied that sucker to the back of Mary Lee. Both are now roaming the north Atlantic with Ginsberg in hot pursuit. She's hired out Richard Dreyfus and some guy named Quint to chase her down in the Orca.
I heard from a friend who works for NOAA that 44009 is going to be down for at least another couple of months.
There have always been two Army Corps wave buoys just off the Delaware and Maryland Coast. One is 2500 feet off Bethany Beach, and one is 2500 off downtown Ocean City Maryland. NOAA has now included those buoys on the NDBC website:
