People on this thread are either pessimistic or delusional...There were also a disproportionate amount of good days on the weekend which is crucial...Best winter ever
An interesting number of implications/assumptions in your post...but seriously...your claiming this the "BEST WINTER EVER" by adding an additional 2 days that were head high...2 days?! To be honest, I'm trying to be realistic--definitely some fun sessions though

That was a response to a different post saying that december only had 2 days. Would have been the best winter with or without those two days. Also, not much is being assumed or implyed by listing weather related data in regards to the # of days available to surf.

Sam Hammer has quote in an ESM feature that this was the best winter he has seen, i'll go with his opinion as validation.

I really don't see your weather related data but who am I...I just call like I see/surf it. As for the Hammer quote...fits great in the ESM article focusing on February and March--wouldn't say that makes up the entire winter. Consequently, best ever...don't think so...been better winters that had more consistency/quality, etc. from december on. best February and March in the last few years...I could agree with that...

My two cents...having a five week (Dec 27 - Jan 31) gap between decent swells pretty much disqualifies 2012- 2013 from best winter ever candidate, no matter what came later, even tho what came later has been pretty damn good.

Definitely not the best winter ever, but I'd say the quality of the conditions during each swell was well above average. There was some other thread about how January typically stinks anyway, which is mostly true, but by mid-February I didn't care. It's been a good late winter / early spring so far, and given the way some sandbars have improved since Sandy and the storms that followed I'd say that partially makes up for January.
