It's easier to manipulate and get into the minds of children than it is an adult. Kids are easily influenced and haven't formed a belief system yet.

Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

I guess you are an athiest? Which you are entitled to be if you'd like. But since you want to discredit a religious organization, I want to ask if you know if any atheists have had an issue with committing the same offense for the past 500 years. Otherwise, that seems very hypocritical.

And, there it is, the classic defense: assign confabulated blame upon the observer by changing the topic to an item seemingly related but which is, in fact, totally unrelated.

Seeking to discredit a religious organization...? They've done a stunningly superb job of that on themselves, wouldn't you say?

I have no idea about atheists, nor does it matter to me what people choose to believe or not believe. Topic at hand: abuses of other humans by those in power within a religious organization. No shortage of facts in re: the systemic, condoned abuse of children, and others, for hundreds of years on a massive, global scale by leaders of the Church.

That's not just a few evil people; that's an institutionalized evil which constitutes an epidemic. Ergo, inculcated evil from within the organization (proven time & again), and covered up by clerks to cardinals (proven) in an effort to destroy those who got flattened by the Church while protecting those in powerful positions within the Church.

You want to talk about atheists? Have at it, sparky. But it's a totally different topic than the very dark side of proselytizing.

Are you talking about Lance Armstrong or the Catholic Church?

I don't disagree that any acts of that nature are evil and should not have taken place. But I think that we agree on one thing and that is that there is evil in this world.

One way to group everyone in the world is by whether they believe in God or not. Right? Those who believe and those who don't. This is exactly the way God sees it according to the Bible.

Why would those who don't believe be able to condemn those who do (questionable) for doing those things when there are unbelievers who do the same thing? There's only one Judge. It's not me, you or Wayne.

I don't think Wayne is trying to get you to come out to catholic church. If I had to guess I would say he probably doesn't belong to the catholic church. I think what he's saying is he has a personal relationship with God. They communicate. Wayne to God through prayer and God to Wayne through His Word, the Bible.

Have you ever prayed? Have you read the Bible? Do you know what it says? No one on here is trying to get you to join their church. I bet you would say you are open minded right? All they are trying to do is get you to remain open minded and consider some things.

It seems you've been suppressing the Truth for a long time but only God can change your heart if He chooses to. Take a minute and look around. We are on a giant spinning rock circling around an enormous ball of fire. To a degree we've all bought a powerful deception that this just all happened. Something out of nothing on it's own. You seem educated so you should know that's not possible.

Not trying to attack you yankee just want to see if you'll consider some of these things I'm saying.

Actually that's what YOU did when you changed the topic (remember the topic? it was about giving free surfboards to kids and telling them that Jesus loves them) to an item related in your mind (child molestation, "butt-bombing boys" or whatever that was you were going on about) but actually unrelated.

Wally, I understand what you're saying..."there is evil in this world." But what Yankee was saying is that the Catholic Church has a long and painful history of using the power of the church to abuse children, used that same power to cover it up and destroy those trying to expose it. Then there's the Spanish Inquisition, in the name of the Church, rape, murder and pillage.

I tend to agree with Yankee and Hanna about what Wayne is up to. I find it difficult, if not impossible to believe that he would walk up to a kid, hand him a surf board, no strings, no other communication. Call me a doubter, but I was born at night, but not last night.

At some point you guys will need to realize that all that is being done by this organization is giving some young people a chance to experience surfing for themselves. I would hope you won't be against that. This is a winning situation all around. Nobody is warping the minds of children or going "Catholic" on anyone. No one is being forced to listen to or blindly follow anything either. Its an act of kindness along with some very encouraging words. I'm hoping none of you are against that too. Try stepping off of your soapbox and have a heart for a while. You'll feel much better when you do. Everyone have a great day.
