wrightsville + north wind?

why does the forecast say clean for WB for a wind out of the north on thursday? it's more east-facing than south.

I’ll defer to the Wrightsville locals as soon as they chime in on this one, but in the interim, the slight westward wind component of the forecast is probably creating a call for glassy conditions (forecast is “N winds 10-15kt in the morning shifting NNW for the afternoon”). Check out http://www.cormp.org/, and particularly the WB stretch of coastline and subtle changes in shoreline orientations going north and south.

I'm not a WB local, but wrightsville faces about 120 degrees, which is ESE/SE facing. A light to moderate N wind doesn't put too much chop there, especially since the land to the N coves around preventing a Northerly fetch from creating N wind chop.

Yep, and if it faces a little more south......thats probably your best bet, sure it will be dumping on a high tide...........or low tide

North winds can blow 40+ and i have seen it break................good too

from my experiences, WB and CB/KB usually see the same size during any given swell, but depending on the wind, one may be cleaner than the other. it just confuses me when i see green for one and red for the other - there has never seemed to be that much of a disparity between the two places whenever i go. i would expect to see green and blue, but not one with semi-glass and the other with unsurfable chop.

I surf wb and the whole green, blue and red surface doesnt bother me i just use it for the hight. then i check the wblivesurf.com for the surface of the day and the height. Because sometimes it's different here then what swellinfo says. But that's my opinion though.

well either way, forecast looks good for tomorrow so i am going to ditch my job for the day. gotta be back for my night job though. sucks because it looks like the winds will be cooperating most in the afternoon/evening. hopefully the winds stay more out of the west than anything else... i haven't been in the water in about 10 days, i'm gettin anxious

Yeah i know i'll try to go in the morning if not i'll ditch lacrosse practice. And go surf since i'm trying out a board my freind wants to sell me so i wanna try it out on a good day.
