    Hayden Shapes

I am thinking about ordering a Hayden Shape, most likely the Shred Sled or the Germ, Future Flex. Thoughts? Reviews? Thanks

+1 on the hypto. Went to PR without boards last winter and rented a 5'10" that was a blast. The one i rented was a tri fin and I think I would have liked it better as a quad. Can't say anything about the other shapes. How much does one run?

Never ridden the germ, but have had 2 shred sleds so far and also have the hypto...I'ved talked about them before on other threads--I'm starting to feel like Matt and his love of hyperflex.

I'm partial to the shred sled and only ride the hypto when I have to in smaller waves. Hypto is fat little board and really pivoty with the pintail--reminds me of my biscuit just with a bit more of an HP feel. You'll ride it a bit more front footed then the SS or PG. Mines a stock global 5'6" that I got a great deal on--foam is different then the PureGlass models, but it has still held up. The SS is probably one of the best boards I've had in the last 5 yrs.--tons of versatility and I've ridden it in OH waves. I owned a 5'8" (recently sold it) and then picked up a 5"10" last fall (shoulder issues and the 5'8" was a bit undervolumed for me)--both from Pureglass. I usually run a quad set up usually runs blacksticks (Machados or the FAMs). Found the board takes a bit to get used to--tail is around 15 1/2" wide and planes great, but with the round tail sometimes hard to really square up off the bottom--round out your turns a bit ride it a bit more back footed and its money--off the tops, etc. Just pure fun...both the Germ and the SS are essentially the same model--sans the incut and displacement hull--if you think the incut will benefit you...and be a bit more pivoty...go for it.

Just for reference...I'm 5'10"x165lbs--if the 5'8" SS had a liter more of volume I would have kept it. Going custom later this summer--the 5'10" SS is huge and made for someone around 180-200lbs...easily.

Regardless, the SS works...case in point--love pushing this thing around...Seaside pre-Sandy shred sled.jpg

The foam on my Global is a different quality...seems less dense compared to the marko foam from pure glass. Maybe a 1.5lb eps compared to a 2lb marko eps...Hard to explain without having the two side by side...but it's a noticeable difference in weight.
