Well Good Gravy! A Lowcountry Thanksgiving, I do declare, that is a good idea PeaJay! Thanksgiving around these parts is a great time, the mosquitos haven't left yet and they're almost as big as an adolescent turkey and the noseeums are out again just about as hungry as pilgrim sitting across a steaming bowl of maize leering at Pocohontas.

DawnPatrol, there'll be no using that language at my table but you could grab a beer and help zaGaff with the turkey, I done brined it for the 24 hours and I think the pecan smoke is starting to get to him, his eyes have been red for the past couple hours since they started talking about indians and peace pipes and what not.

Mama ain't used the can stuff for a couple years but she bought some up at the piggly wiggly cuz I done told her how much you boys liked it. She's turned into a mighty fine cook and so don't you worry your little head about no marshmallows and sweet taters neither Dawn. Ya know, for a southerner, you sure do talk like you're from Massachusetts (no offense intended to you newengland, you're what we like to call a good yankee). My Diddy always said Florida was the most southern, northern state. And you know we don't take kindly to no northern aggression. But never mind that, all's welcome at my table, whether you drink your tea sweet or unsweet.

Mr. Rock, unfortunately my largest sea-going vessel is my 9'0" log so i won't be able to haul in any fresh fish. I'm good for a redfish or two, maybe a flounder here or there. I'll make sure to throw the crab trap and maybe net a cooler of shrimp to add a crustacean flair to the affair. Maybe my South Carolina brethren, Zach619, brewengineer or Roy's boy, Steve83, can fill our table with fish! I do look forward to your oyster stuffing though! I'll make sure to bring some wild hog and swamp deer to the table. I can't claim we've got big deer down here but they do get tasty, our pigs are big! Boy, i tell you what!

We'll have to fire up all my grills and keep that oven runnin' for a coupla days. We'll have more pies than windowsills. The beer will flow and the shine will make you glow.

    Emass, you can come too.

How about posting your oyster stuffing recipe?

    What's this thread about anyway?

Awful nice of you to include me. I'll bring a keg of Yuengling that I'll pick up on the way down. You can't get that goodness up here, at least not til you hit White Plains on the NY border.

At this point, this thread, and the OP behind it, is comic gold. This guy has to have been trolling us the whole time. No one can naturally be such a tool. he talks about his pure love of surfing, and then describes his training regimen like a physicist. Its too perfectly terrible to be real.

So congrats Spicoli, you got all of us. You're probably sitting in Kansas right now laughing your ass off.

I was about to ask the same two questions.
Not sure how this discussion turned to Thanksgiving dinner, but it's a nice change. Oyster dressing, grouper, crab, and all that other good stuff.

Clemson had a lighthearted shift that was witty but I guess it's not enough for some to move on.

i like the canned stuff too especially on the late night turkey sandwich.

how should we have our potatoes? should we brine the bird?
Clemson, You need to give us your address. this thing is happening.
Best thread derail-ment ever, also best idea, would be a very interesting thanksgiving...sweet potato casserole is cool, but we gotta have some regular mashed taters too if that's cool with you guys. Gotta say I'm a fan of the old homemade cranberry sauce, but canned will work...also, to supplement Gaff's brownies, I'll make a stuffing with some fungal additives for those who might be so inclined, or maybe mix them into the cranberry sauce for desert...it'll get interesting. And Zach, that analogy w/ the sauce and fat girl yoga pants was disgusting, but spot on.

***not to offer up anyone's services, but maybe some homemade brew compliments of brewengineer?

While we are on the subject, anyone know how to get the smell of cat urine out of an upholstered couch?
