1. Go to a show, as most studio albums are "crap" compared to what you get live.
2. Ingest hallucinogenic substances to "enhance" the vibes and lights (like tripping during a glow stick war).
3. If #2 is not your thing than just drink some alcohol. They can be a very fun act to watch with a good buzz on.
4. Sober Phish is great only if you already have a good appreciation for them. Otherwise its really annoying to be sober stuck around thousands of people that are out of their minds.
5. Repeat the above steps. Go on tour. Or go to a festival. Nothing beats festival Phish.
P.S. The above instructions don't require that you be a dirty hippy. To accomplish the above takes a little bit of cashola.

Out of respect for Seldom Seen I have refrained from a few CT jabs......
I interviewed at Fairfield College(University, whatever it is), and when I told the admissions dude I surfed, he looked at me like I was trash, and started talking to me aboot basketball.
I mean Bridgeport is cool, but you know that rich, snoby voice that you hear on the TV........well there are people who actually speak like that in CT.
But it's not fair to label every CT person as a douche, even though when I attended the college in Massachusetts, we had a FRESHMAN FACEBOOK(this was well before Zuckerberg, it was actually a booklet), and me and a pal went through it and every person we knew fron CT was an ass. But then again, so were most of the dudes there. My experience there was just like Animal House....exactly. Yes, I was part of the wayward Belushi crew fighting the jocks, who, by the way, were terrible at sports. So I had that going for me as well. Then I transferred back to Philly, and drank in solidarity with the community at large. Lots of Irish drunks at my Philly school. So I had that going for me.
And when I mentioned the 90's as being the last good period for the music. I meant the Pearl Jams and the Alice in Chains stuff. Me no likey Green Day or Blink 182. And I really don't no aboot that whole Taylor Steele "Surfer Punk Rock" stuff. I do like the Lost Across America soundtracks.......they pick 'em right.
Oh and Trevolution was all claiming Bridgeport but EmassSpicoli caught his track reference at Fairfield High. There's a big difference between Fairfield and Bridgeport. Though, the Mystic area is kind of quaint and stuff. And they had that movie aboot pizza and the Portugese.

Well, that is much appreciated...I will admit, I often find myself thinking "self, CT would be so much cooler if it weren't for all the a**holes", there is certainly no shortage here.

Fairfield Ludlowe High School is nearly on the Fairfield University campus. Take a stroll down that street, then through the nicest part of Bridgeport during the lightest part of the day and we can then talk apples and oranges.
I don't think anyone was blanketing the total CT population in a label. Just the waspy folk with the nasal voice you mention. Bridgeport used to be a bit country clubbish well to do back in the day if you can believe that.
That FU admissions officer likely thought "diversity" was a marine relic from WWII.
Mystic & Niantic is a great waterfront area albeit zero surf. And Portuguese girls are where it's at.
In my transformation from wild child, with my hands on the wheel, a bottle between my legs, and straws surgically atatched to my nostrils, I have become more enlightened. OMG dudes, everything is so clear now.
Anyways, I'm sorry EmassSpicoli that I called you out on the whole 8-10' thing. If someone thinks it's 8-10' then what do I care? I don't have to be a wise-ass, know-it-all and point out that it isn't. Yeah, I was trying to be a wise-ass, know-it-all. I'm not perfect yet. Give me aboot five years. But I'm doing super fantastic, though if I had a gun I would have shot some "Jersey Hick" in a big pick-up this past Monday. Yeah, that was a bad slip. I was fuming. What's with you "Jersey Hicks," and the confederate flag thing, huh?
Don't you gun nuts ever get worried you might shot someone in a the heat of the moment, especially you drinking ones? I mean, I wasn't even drunk on Monday and I would have been blasting at this dude, though I would have probably missed him as he flew by me. I don't know. I just think guns are a bad thing. I'm a pretty chill dude, but when I get mad......I get mad. And I seem to get most mad on the roads, and I'm not allowed to drive anymore. 2021, man......2021.
Anyways, I wash myself from negativity. Only positivity for now on.....maybe.

Phish sucks and so do people from Connecticut. Brutal left-lane cloggers. I'm no speeder, but people sitting in the left lane going 60 INFURIATES me, and CT is full of such offenders. Pull left to pass, then pull back in.
As for Phish, having (relatively) recently attended college with thousands of flannel and tie dye clad, birkenstock (jerusalem cruisers)-wearing wish-we-were-hippies, the biggest problem with Phish is their fans. I don't really like Phish, or any jam band really for that matter, but if I have to listen to one more burned-out loser tell me:
"duuuuuuuuuuddddddddeeeeeee, have you heard their set from Ithaca in 92'??? They play "taste" right INTO "waste" right into a cover of "i know you rider" before they jam back into "taste". it's so siiiiiiiicccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkk"
I may just lose my mind. Phish sucks. Phish fans are intolerable.
I definitely like the Dead, but I don't really like listening to their live stuff that much for the aforementioned disdain of half-hour jam sessions, and I really curse them for the jam band music explosion and the stupid a$$ band names that came with it. The String Cheese Incident? The Disco Biscuits? So dumb.

+Infinti (XCEL spelling) on the "Phish sucks" call.
The ONLY good things ever about it are the following:
- when someone shuts it the hell off at a party or doesn't play it at all
- when I was scoring with the "girl next door" at 15 when came back for the summer after she moved away when we were 12. That damn album the the "down with disease" song was playing throughout our whole roll in the hay.
Did we mention Phish sucks? Yeah. They do. Their fanboys suck to the 38th power worse.
