    Costa Rica Honeymoon

My fiance and I are planning a honeymoon to Costa in November and I have a few questions for anyone that has been there (around that time or in general).

We're looking to split the trip between the jungle and the beach. She has the task of finding the jungle location and me the beach location. We're renting a truck for the entire week and for that reason, are looking for a more authentic experience (NO ALL INCLUSIVE).

As far as a place, I'm thinking something that is beachfront with a good break in front or within walking distance. Also, we'd like it be a B&B, just so we don't have to worry about getting breakfast. I wouldn't mind being fairly close to a town or a few food establishments for lunch and dinner and maybe party a bit at night. Budget is fairly high so I'm definitely not looking for a low-cost surf camp type of place.

    Can anyone make any recommendations?

my wife and I when to Santa teresa on the south end of the peninsula. You have to take a small plane from san jose to tambor then a hour cab ride. Takes a day to get there from the states.
This is a small town with good food, waves, and jungle all around. Rent a quad for your mode of transport. There are a few towns with in 30 minutes running the quad. Rope swings and water falls to explore. Monkeys all over the place. We stayed at this place that had a nice teak villa. Run buy a nice Italian family. http://disfrutaloresort.com/ Good luck on your search

My wife and I took our honeymoon there at the end of October. We stayed in Quepos and it was beautiful. I made the drive up to Hermosa everyday and surfed. We also went to the Manuel Antonio rainforest while we were there, its awesome. There was a restaurant there called El Avion its on the side of a mountain and is made out of an old airplane, the views there were great.

I camped in front of this place for 9 days during Semana Santa. The owner came down from his place and freaked. he drove up on his motorcycle with a pissed off look, slammed on his breaks and fell down with it on top of him. I ran over and pulled the bike off him, picked him up, and dusted him off. He was gratefully embarrassed and let us stay. would bring down beers and cold water. you can fly in from SJO or take a day drive down. He has boards and other water craft.

We stayed in Manuel Antonio a few years ago over Thanksgiving. It has both the jungle and beach vibe going on. If you want to catch waves though, you might need to drive to Playa Bejuco/Hermosa or Domincal for anything rideable but its a cool area with good restaurants rare squirrel monkeys etc and no all inclusive stuff going on. definitely a good time of year to go IMO.

We used to go to Costa during November, a good time of year weather is nice - waves are smaller than the rainy season but usually something to ride.
A cool spot is Villa Calleta just north of Jaco on the coast- it is a high dollar hotel perched way up on the mountain, with a million dollar view over the whole bay- show up for happy hour before sunset and get a few over priced drinks. They have an amphitheater seating, play some mellow classic music. Killer romantic vibe - great for the honeymoon.

My EX-WIFE and I stayed here a few years ago... Phattest place on the planet.....45 minutes south of Playa Hermosa...perfect beach break right out in front of the hotel....not really a hotel. Awesome food and good massages...wife will love it and you will too. There are two Xandaries...one is up in the central valley and the other is on the beach south of Esterillos...you want the one on the beach. You and the wife can do a cool horseback tour, massage, zipline, Manuel Anotnio national park is 20 minutes away...did I mention perfect beach break? E-mail me if you want more info. I gotta a place in Jaco and have been to CR many times for the last 9 years...in fact I leave Sunday for the month of June.....PURA VIDA BRO!!!! Here is their website.....
