Question about Jetblue and board bags

I'm flying to california next week on jetblue and I noticed that on their website they say $50 a board bag, one board per bag. I was wondering if I put two boards in one bag and they find out I have two in their will they just charge me extra or will I have to take one board out and find someone at the airport who wants it.

    call 'em and ask.

I am flying out to mexico next week on American, and their website sez that multiple boards in one bag are considered to be one board as long as the bag does not exceed dimensional or weight limits.

'tis a good idea to call the day before your flight to make sure that their rules have not changed since the last time the website was updated.

    have a blast out west.

They will charge you $50 per board or if your lucky just $50 for the bag if you have multiple. Good possibility they will open the bag to check how many are in there. Happened to me last time I flew Jetblue.

if you really need two boards with you and they open it up they will probably just charge you per board. what you could do is wrap the Sh!t out of both boards with bubble wrap then wrap towels and clothing and basically anything you can find around both boards and then duct tape it all together so that it looks like one board. the person at the counter is not gonna ask you to remove all that duct tape to see if it is really two boards. worked for me before.

^^^ What he said, but good luck getting someone on the phone who knows the right answer though. If you are concerned about the extra $50 then I would try and go with just the one you will use more. I flew Jetblue to PR but only took one board. On the way there they opened it up and looked but on the way back they didn't. I had mine all wrapped up in a sheet and taped with rubber around the rails for protection and they didn't want to bother with it when they saw that. If it's too bulky you can bet they'll have a problem with it, so keep that in mind.

i'm flying them to costa rica for my honeymoon in a couple weeks & have asked around about this a bit. the consensus seems to be that if you pack 2 boards into a smaller travel bag (so that it looks like only 1 board is in it) you should be ok. if you roll up to the counter w/ a wheeled coffin bag packed w/ 4 boards & try to tell them there's only 1, you're gonna get hit w/ multiple board fees.
i'd go w/ what sjerz suggested...pack the **** out of your boards & hope for the best. but be prepared to pay the extra $50. i ALWAYS budget for a shafting on board fees when traveling...esp. w/ american & us air. those ****ers hate surfers w/ a passion.

so it sounds like they will let me bring two boards in one bag but I will have to pay extra most likely

as long as you travel w/ boards, assume so.
