Increased population equals increased energy demands.
i bet if they wanted to build a LNG deep water port in your back yard, you would sign a petition to stop it.

We already have a massive fuel terminal at our ports, not to mention the numerous other hazardous cargo ships that go in and out of Charleston harbor every day. The only thing I fight against is off shore drilling here. That is something to be concerned about and something we can actually stop. The environmental hazards that come from a natural gas terminal are very small compared to an offshore drilling operation.

No, not through an Internet petition. You need political pull.

Fracking is going on full force in upstate PA where I go to kill deer and turkeys. There has been some minor spillage but pretty much every local who sold out to let them drill on their property now has a new barn, Harley, and pick-up and there kids are all going to East Stroudsburg paid in full. I know those companies got the governor elected in PA (Corbett I think). he is letting them run amok. Those wells are all over the place.
BUT, in terms of our area (beach/ocean) I'm not even sure if there is enough of the gas they hope to get in the shale layer under the ocean off NY, NJ. DE, MD, VA, NC, etc. I thought it was more of a mountain area thingie.

Our genius of a Gov thinks its a good idea to allow uranium mining close to our water source.
