Can't really speak for Seaside and points north, but for north of Ship Bottom I'd say there were some changes that wouldn't be atypical for a winter with a lot of noreasters. Some of the bars have seem to have grown in size and offer a more consistent wave. But some of the bars have been filled in and are now fickle. One of the more well known spots has seemed to improve dramatically for the first time in 5 years. Although some may have taken notice prior to Sandy. Unfortunately the "emergency dredging" that has begun will likely return this spot to dormancy for a few years. You could maybe say Sandy accerlerated some of the erosional effects that winter storms would create over a season or two, but that's only a qualitative observation.
Live in Monmouth Co, and frequent northern NJ beaches usually. Sea Bright still has a lot of empty storefronts, but coming back bit by bit. Was down in Seaside/Lavellette over the 4th visiting family. S.H. is still a mess, but was crowded for the holiday. It seems that the businesses down there that are open, the numbers are way down.
Well, I certainly didn't expect a normal summer, but its good to hear that businesses are open and people are still flocking to the beach. Where I live in Delaware, people are saying its busier then normal, because a lot of people that would have gone to Jersey are coming down here.
pretty much everything is open for business, it seems things are on the upswing. The weird thing to me after this winter is driving through belmar everything fixed up like it never happened (aside from matisse/mcdonalds being gone)
Like Irish said... Sea Bright is still struggling. Most of the stores are still closed. A lot of work still needs to be done. If anyone has some spare time they can still use help.
Most other area's are looking much better. Long Branch was mobbed over the weekend
