^^^what they said. first couple weeks in May is the teets time to go to centro. plus, i think airfare is actually less during the warmer months.
if you want less crowds, more beachbreak, and roughing it a little (just a little these days), go to Nica.
if you want to party, pick up trannie h00kers, Canadian tourists eh, more hotel and surf camp selections, and more reefs and points...go to Tamarindo Costa Rica. Go south in Costa Rica if you want less crowds, a little bigger waves, and maybe cheaper prices.
regardless, you'll have fun.
December can be big on the Caribbean side, check out Salsa Brava in Puerto Viejo then as it gets very powerful short range swells from storms off Colombia! Its easy to surf both Pacific and Caribbean sides in a trip.
Little children should wait until they're adults to read this.
Puerto Viejo esta muy peligroso. that means very dangerous. Cops don't go in there. I was told by "the king of salsa brava" that if I needed a cop, try to get to the bar at the entrance of town.

Ivan is a blond Tico who has a "farm", horse rental, and mushroom concession down the street from SB. the year the 2 gringa girls got killed there, He took us to where the schrooms grow and we cooked some up in the kitchen of the Hotel P V. we were stumbling around town enjoying the sights, and this rasta jumped out of the vegetation asking for money. "I haven't eaten in 3 days mon." he said. I gave him all my change and went on. further down the road he jumped out again. then again further down, saying the same thing. I kept telling him I have no more. This giant rasta came up to me and told me, "I'll kill him for you for free, he's an informer." "No thank you." i said. then went back to the hotel and locked myself in.
couple hours later we hung out here for the rest of the night trading beers for fattys. 8043176288_2ddc9c348e_c.jpg
