Thread: Surfing game?

    Surfing game?

Can someone tell me how we just went an entire console generation(a decade) without a single surfing game?

I heard they were making a new surfing game for the ps4.

Surfing doesn't lend itself particularly well to video games. How fun would it be to mash a button to paddle, mash a different button to pop up, and press another button to do tricks? It's too simple. Either you get a game like Kelly Slater pro surfing that was not realistic AT ALL, or a "realistic" surfing game which would bore most consumers half to death. It's a niche market, just like gaming. Developers would be taking a huge risk creating a game for a niche market within a niche market, when the two niche markets seem to be diametrically opposed (surfers are athletes, gamers are lazy).

    Kelly Slater's Pro Surfing.

You "dialed" cheats off Kelly's Nokia phone. Some dude would "pick up" and say "Duuuuuuude, the waves are looking tasty! You just unlocked ________! Better hit the waves pronto, brah."

*Maybe Kelly Slater's Pro Surfing ruined surfing...

You could say the same thing about snowboarding. I say go the realistic route and make thousands of real world locations and mimic them exactly! Have contests and a character that you could develop a career with. Have different modes....bodyboarding....skimboarding. Also have different surfer modes. Soul surfer. Winter surfing in Jersey(on 23 footers of course) with snow. How cool would that be? Lot's of innovative ideas out there. It would be cool in ps4 level graphics. What they can do graphically with water is leaps and bounds above the past and makes it seem more real and interesting.
