Good luck man! Personally I thought the actually shaping of a surfboard was pretty simple but glassing whooped my a$$. After shaping it made me realize how much time and effort goes into every board*.

Yes and you can read the second sentence too. AO is looking out for you and has shaped more boards than you have Star Trek action figures (over 1k). Then again, everything you aspire for is mediocre so the fixation on sawhorses makes sense.

You really are a sad little man aren't you? I just posted that because I found it funny that we were going on and on about sawhorses and this site dedicated to shaping said they would work in a pinch. And I don't know where you got this thing that I'm a basement dwelling nerd, but that couldn't be further from the truth, and until you meet me at my break anything you say about me is nothing but the pathetic ramblings of a thirty-something beach bum with self esteem issues.

seems like sanding the board's rails would be difficult on sawhorses. I also can't imaging shaping without the waist high lights...they show most all the imperfections in the sanding job.

anyway, what's the name of your logo going to be? Half the fun, for me, was designing and printing the logos. I did all my friends graphics on my sh*tty old computer. I guess you could do it in ms paint, but some sort of photoshop (elements, illustrator, corel, whatever) is exponentially better. I bought some standard rice paper from the art store and it worked perfectly. I actually got really good at it (unfortunately, I can't find the disk with the photos of my work).

the only hard part is if you don't want the stringer showing through the laminate (logo). It involves making a stencil/mask, rubber cement, white spray paint and some finesse. PM me if you need any help.

My guess is BCN isn't trying to start his own label, and doesn't really care about being professional about this, I think he wants to take a "hack" at it and see what he's capable of with limited resources. He can still put out a board that floats, I mean we're talking foam here, let him have his fun, and when he realizes how much more difficult it is then he thought then let him come running back asking for tips on doing it better next time. It's his 1st build, give him a break.

please waterbaby... quit saying 'waist high lights'. BCN isn't a pigmey... i hope. and who on earth uses rubber cement for lams? unless you have screen printed lams stringers will show. if you run rice paper through your printer it will be ok with darker colors, if your worried about the stringer showing. just be sure to give a quick light spray with acrylic sealer or they can fade to purple.

don't go getting all offended waterbaby....im just saying.

here is a better view of racks BCN. just make em'
