Jeremiah M is in Pawley's Island right as we speak. He's on vacation. Head towards the smell of kale, and then follow him. He'll find something.
He found barrels on a fat day at Cedars back in 1989, didn't he?!! Son b!tch kept finding these square sections off the jetty everytime I was paddling back out. Right in me face he did it. Right in me face...........
So if there's any peaks of furtune to be found down thar(that's southern for "there") he'll a find 'em. You just have to find him.
As I said, follow the kale........just follow the kale.
I went to Pawley's Island about 3 years ago in September. Unfortunately we got there just as a good swell was dying down. We got about one full day of surf. I was on the very north side of the island at the river mouth. It was pretty cool. We paddled across the river and got some decent waves on the sandbars. I found a pair of sunglasses in the sand and caught a bunch of waves before I lost them.. It was fun.
From what I understand there is a decent break at the south side of the island or something. Check out the surf shop nearby. They will probably give you some tips. Also the girls working in there were pretty hot. We even got them to come chill with us later at the house we were staying at. I got so drunk I just left the party and passed out... We were in the sickest house on the island at the north tip. It had jet skis for us to use, a private theater room and about everything else you would want. All in all it was a good trip aside from the fact that we left New England to go surf, but the waves ended up in New England and not Pawley's Island. I would go again.
