So I see that were going to be getting a ground swell this weekend in the 12 sec range. What I don't get is where is the wave? How does a 12 sec ground swell produce ankle slappers? Can someone please explain!
Thanks for clearing that up. For some reason I always associated a 12 sec period ground swell with some what decent waves, considering the wind as always. Most places that get 12 sec or better g-swell get pumping surf. I guess here on the east coast 12 sec period still produces crappy surf. Thanks for the info you guys sre always on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is always a swell height and period combination. A 1ft swell @ 12 seconds is nothing. Where as a 4ft swell @ 12 seconds has much more energy as compared to a 4ft swell @ 6 seconds.
The 4ft @ 6secs is prob like waist high (maybe a slighltly bigger peak), where the 4ft @ 12 seconds could be like chest - head with longer lines and generally much more power behind the wave.
