I think that the creators of this great website did not intend for the chronic users to badmouth others. Isn't it supposed to be used as a tool to better plan our excuses from work or school?

I have noticed a lot of negative threads lately about waveriders overall general disrespect. Its seems to be concentrated within the mid-atlantic region...I wonder why that is? Browse any of the other forums and one will not find such animosity.

Forums are much more enjoyable when everybody chats about conditions, upcoming swell events, or even a photo post...but seriously K-Coast guys; Who Cares!

Note to self and others...let's keep this a positive website and do our share (and maybe the admin's share) to keep the bad campaigns unread or at least unacknowledged.Peace

The Cali localism doesn't seem credible to me. I spent six months surfing around Santa Barbara and whenever there were waves i went to Rincon which was probably the most crowded spot around. I never had any problems in the water as long as I was respectful which is pretty much how i surf here in OC. I think the problem is sticking us all on a 10 mile stretch with a summer season that is crowded with people who don't have respect for the Ocean, Beach, or surfing. On top of that the surfers are forced into one of two half block stretches if they want to surf during the day at all. I can understand where some of the animosity comes from but instead of fighting with each other maybe we should get the City Council to throw us a little more space during the summer.

I just got back from the Dana Point area I spent most of my time at salt creek and with a 4 day span of chest high waves I saw like 1 fist fight and 2 pushing/yelling matches. It seems to me people didn't talk trash there they took action.

The above shows your complete ignorance of surfing rules and etiquette. Again, you think this only happens int he mid-Atlantic? There are some places where one drop in results in a beating.

Most of what I've seen in 25 years of surfing is the the 3 strike rule. you drop in once you might get a look or a comment and if you apologize it's forgiven. the second time a more forceful comment, the third time its usually a complete flip out or worse (if you drop in on some one 3 times you deserve that).

What you forgot to mention is WHO is sitting on your shoulder. That changes the rules! Some people don't change the rules until it gets heavey...that is when there is a consequence. If you get snaked at north side, big deal because you can ride 3 people on a wave. But dumps, someone can get hurt. And like others said, mid-atlantic is not aggresive at all. Jersey is aggresive. Cali, Hawaii, Canaries...they are strong minded people. I have never been yelled out in the water or even yelled at someone in the water around here. If someone cuts you off, you just joke with them for a minute and go deeper or down the beach. I think the crap on this forum is just that...kids joking around. No one gets hurt and I have never seen anyone carry any crap from a forum into the water. When it does finally get good (think about this), Over head-off shore wind-tubes NO ONE IS THINKING ABOUT a silly forum thread. People get into position. If you rip, you get deep. If you don't, you pick off shoulders. Skysurf, your intentions are cool but a little gay. Do you listen to Coldyplay? (ir: that's a joke!) Summer's here and my local friends love it. Entertainment is back, partying is full-on and there is always something fun about watching the b-town unit do their crazy-skimming-backflips down the beach with 5 or 6 Heins in em deep chasing the milfs. It's the money making season. You make it, live it spend it then DIE. Rock on!!!
